I'm in Taipei! Right now! And tomorrow! And the day after that! Until Sunday! With Lee Anne!
So my infrequent updates will be even infrequent-er. Sorry. But I will certainly have many things to blog about after this trip, things that, if all goes well, you may be able to read about in the next six months. ... Maybe.
As for why I'm here, my dad and grandparents live here and I haven't visited Taipei in about 12 years; that streak had to be broken. Lee Anne came with me to visit her grandparents and bring me to her favorite eating spots. Together, we will digest SO VERY MUCH. If only Nick were here too; we'll have to tackle his list of recs without him. :(
Ideally I would've mentioned this earlier, but if I have any readers here who'd want to join Lee Anne and me on a food outing this week, email me (roboppy@gmail.com)!
As for the other part of this post's title, I'm visiting Valencia, Spain, from October 25 to 29 for a press trip. Yup, I'm crazy lucky. I doubt I have any readers there, but if you're out there, let me know!

A good friend of mine from Chicagoland is now living in Taoyuan teaching English. I look forward to the entry so I can share it with her!
You do realize that we are in the same time zone and Taipei is but a 2 hour flight from Manila.
So. Close. Yet. So. Far.
:(
Aaaaaaaah! Valencia!!! I'm SUPER excited for you on that. I'll live the visit vicariously through you. I fell in love with that place even though it's probably "nothing" compared to Barcelona to others who know the small city. I'll send you my Valencia map for you to see if there's anything worth your time when you are free from the press work!
so jealous!!! sounds like amazing eats are ahead for you... here's my one must-try recommendation for taipei based on a recent trip. not sure if you like mochi, but there's a small restaurant that's open WAY late with a limited menu (tea, peanut mochi, peanut soup, etc) on Ming Sheng Xi Lu (can't remember name of shop) and it's got THE BEST mochi ever!! little nuggets of fluff, cooked gently in a huge vat of oil, then sprinkled generously with peanut powder. for sure you'll be going to all the classics during your trip, but you've got to find this one and give it a try!
GOD I AM RAGING. Bring me back doughnuts please.
Awesome! I can't wait to see what you've been eating in Taipei! Do you get to take your boyfriend to Spain with you?
ooo, ooo!! i am just a hop, skip, and a jump from Valencia, in Madrid! Well, okay, maybe a few hours away, but you'll b on the same continent. I loved Valencia - eat fish along the beach, there are some great restaurants lining the beach. Enjoy! :)
I'm back from Taiwan! Yaaa...ee...wah.
Carrie: I look forward to..writing posts! It might be a while. I have a lot of photos to edit, ahhh.
Mahar: :(
D: That'd be great, thanks! I still don't have an itinerary for my trip; I wonder how much free time I'll have...
Emily: Thanks for the rec! I do love mochi, but I didn't have enough time to look for that place...wah. Also, I have no sense of geography so I relied mostly on my dad and Lee Anne to guide me. ;_; I want fluff nuggeeettt...
Nick: I RAGE AGAINST ANTS. (This comment looks pretty weird out of context. Hm.)
Alyssa: No boyfriend in Spain, just meee! Wish he could come though!
Liz: I'd like to visit Madrid someday! Future vacation perhaaaps...
Oh my, 12 years is a long time! I just came back from Taipei 2 weeks ago, and I brought 12 extra lbs. of myself back to the US! Taipei has some AWESOME food... so glad that you're going to post on something from Taiwan! I'm posting about my Taipei trip as we speak... check 'em out if you get a chance, Robyn! http://www.sofatblog.blogspot.com.
Eek! Take out the last period from the URL!
Dang, I'm in Taipei now. All hail stink tofu.
Naomi: I didn't get any stinky tofu during my trip! Oops. ;_;
