The Girl Who Ate Everything

Blogging about food and whatever since 2004.

Thanksgiving is over

So the fooding is over, more or less. I ate so much today, I can't believe I haven't exploded. I have no idea how I'm going to digest anything. The weirdest thing is that my stomach still doesn't seem to fill up much, which is good, but there's no way food goes straight from m esophagus to my intestines. It does end up in my stomach, for a while...but I guess not that long? Eeeuh. Wait, maybe nothing is really being digested.

Sooo my food came out okay. The stuff I made that came out the best were the sweet mashed potatoes and the gravy. And then some things came out ...not so good.

Sirupssnipper, but not really. At least they're not round!

I'm positiive that the sirupssnipper came out totally wrong even though I've never eaten the real thing before. Since they're supposed to be cookies, I don't think they were supposed to end up with a biscuit-like texture and they were probably suppposed to be thinner. The honey I used wasn't very sweet, so they also kind of taste like lemony biscuits since I put some lemon juice in it. I couldn't taste the spices, but the cookies would probably taste different if I hadn't put them in.

Mm, food

My mum always makes the turkey and it always comes out good! Even though I don't absolutely love meat, I like turkey. Then again I'll eat any food/meat, or try it once.

Mashed sweet potatoes

The mashed sweet potatoes had:

  • 3 sweet potatoes
  • 3/4th cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tbsp salt

Cook potatoes (my mum baked em), mash potatoes, add liquid, moosh around until it looks like mashed potatoes. You could use milk instead of heavy cream and add butter or something, but...I like heavy cream. Mm yes. If you like sweet stuff, then this is yum.

Fresh from the ice cream machine, bwaaahaha

My favorite food was the ice cream. Because I love ice cream. It was basic:

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • mashed cooked chestnuts (I didn't measure this but between 1 and 2 cups)

I cooked everything except for the yolks first and then poured the cooked liquid into the yolk. After letting it cool, my mum put it in the ice cream machine. Voila. WEE.

For being so obscenely full of food, I feel strangely okay. I felt blech right after I finished eating the ice cream but by now I feel better. I could've done worse. ;)

--- UPDATE ---

The next day, my liver and pancreas became sore. I'm not kidding. At least, I think they did, which is quit a feat sing organs don't generally hurt. Those are rather important organs, so...um. Ungood. My entire bodybecame sore, so I decided to wake up late and skip possibly eating too much. I guess I had an about 16 hour fast, which isn't much of a fast.

My organs...:(
